Today I got my IR (infra red) filter from the store and I was quickly outside to put it on the camera and try it out with my 18-200mm lens.
Although I have a far way to go compared to some IR photographs it was great fun to try. These shots were shot in the afternoon / evening and the amount of sunlight was not ideal to get good IR images.
I also notice that even a little bit of wind makes my tripod move a little bit and that definitely contributes to my images becoming very very soft.
I also need to learn to work with the white balance since IR photography definitely do not follow the normal rules. I will also work with learning to pre-focus properly since IR seems to introduce a "focus shift" compared to normal light photography.
Luckily the D70s is quite sensitive to IR shooting so I have great fun trying this out. I will definitely work with IR more and more this summer.
